I believe and have seen first-hand that yoga is not just for us grown-ups. Kids love it all the same, and my mummy yoga & play classes gives you and your wee ones a brilliant opportunity to connect with your body and learn relaxation, body awareness and get an opportunity for the kids to socialise. For children aged 5 months up to 5 years (ish), mummy yoga & play is a nurturing environment where you can connect with your little one in all new ways.
*Parents with younger babies are welcome, if you feel fully healed and are ok with potential toddlers running around your wee bub.
Where:
MakeBelieve in City Centre
Craigie's Little Farmers in South Queensferry
This class is for parents to find time to come to a yoga class, but instead of finding a childminder you can just bring them along to hang out. There are toys and books available around the room and other wee ones to interact with. As the mum of a toddler myself, I know how hard it is to find something for yourself whilst entertaining them.
I’ve seen how transformative yoga can be for both parents and the kids, they copy what we do so why not set healthy intentions starting from a young age. Introducing kids to yoga, teaching them to move and find a happy, energising flow is great for their bodies and relationship with exercise. But equally, yoga promotes mindfulness, encouraging the kids to find inner calm and become aware of gentle movements.
Even if your kids just come along and play during the class, they will be absorbing it all.
It’s a great chance for you to get some time for yourself, because you are important too!
My mummy yoga & play classes are a Vinyasa style of ygoa, which means we focus on linking your breath with a continuous flow of movement, changing through different postures. This can help:
Vinyasa yoga will help you relax and even promote a nurturing instinct through oxytocin stimulation. Recognising and honouring the link between your body and mind is something that I believe is unique to yoga. Expect twists, bends and binds, every class is different!
