My name is Jackie Douglas, a Highland Lass located in Edinburgh. Mum of a toddler.
My own practice began in 2017 when I discovered that the high-intensity exercise I was doing was making me faint, it turns out I have chronic low blood pressure. So I tried Yoga and it was the perfect fit. I fell in love with the movement and the energy, especially the playful Vinyasa sequences.
I had come to accept that as you age, you put up with aches and pains, silly really, as within weeks of beginning my practice I noticed my tight shoulders and chest were releasing, my hips were no longer screaming at me, I was realigning from years of bad posture and I could touch my toes again! I had found a movement and flow in my body that I hadn't felt since I was a kid.
But probably the biggest change was that my headspace became a lot more positive. I released so much trapped emotional baggage (stored in your hips btw) even breaking down quietly at the back of the class one time. Yoga can make you float after a great session!
The more I went to class, the more I wanted to delve deeper into the understanding of 'what is Yoga'.
